COMING IN 2026
Pre-production has started on a story about 1905 All Black Original’s Captain Dave Gallaher, following a journey to symbolically bring him home. When we have more to say on this exciting project we will.
This is more than a documentary, it is leaving a legacy for Dave and his Auckland Rugby teammates who went to World War I together. Many of them - like Dave - never returned. This project will leave something significant in place to remember Dave at a very special place in Auckland. We have the help of a couple of well-known former All Blacks to bring the idea to life.
Supporters
Funding a complex, global project like this can only happen with the help of good-hearted philanthropic people who understand the importance of telling this story and leaving something behind for future generations.
From the Field to the Front is made in association with Auckland RSA, who are honouring their Auckland veterans. It has been made possible with the help of two principle sponsors in Hugo Charitable Trust and ANZ. Another steadfast key supporter of the project is The Sir William and Lady Judi Gallagher Foundation. Other supporters are Barfoot & Thompson, Andrew Ritchie, Harrison’s Carpets, Eden Park Trust, North & South Trust, and Faull Farms Taranaki. Without these supporters this project would simply not be possible.
Hugh Green, the founding inspiration of Hugo Charitable Trust, came to New Zealand from Donegal in Ireland - the same county as Dave Gallaher. We are grateful for their help in keeping the Gallaher connection alive between Ireland and New Zealand.
